We are blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world; with the rolling hills that surround the barn, the trickling fresh water stream that runs by, and an array of wildlife blooming here.
It is our desire and privilege to protect and encourage our local wildlife and their habitats, while minimising our impact on the environment - which is why we put so much love, thought and care into land management, and our day to day practices as a company.
We are very pleased to announce Tissington Ford Barn now has an EV Charger! Free for guests to use - just let us know if you're bringing your electric vehicle and we will ensure the fob and cable are provided to you upon arrival!
In the adjoining land to Tissington Ford Barn we have created a path through the paddock to reach the picnic area. Either side of the path, we leave the land unmown and untouched, to encourage wild flowers and long grass, which in turn grew a whole new habitat for different species including the insect population. We additionally planted wild flower seeds along the bank and in the meadow.
We are proud that the land we provide has accommodated and enoucaged wildlife to thrive. We have now spotted: a family of red kites, a family of stouts, badgers and foxes, the protected water vole, woodpeckers, bats, owls, an array of butterflies, bumblebees and insects, and an increase in the bird population as a whole.
30 new silver birch, spring blossom and maple trees were planted either side of the walk-through to the picnic area. Additionally 500 quick thorn hedges were planted. We hope that this will create new habitats for our local birds and wildlife as they continue to grow!
We carefully created a path through the beautiful land adjoining Tissington Ford Barn, that runs close to the havenhill brook and meets said brook at the picnic area.
By keeping distance between the path and the majority of the havenhill brook, we are able to provide an undisturbed and peaceful environment for the protected water voles.
