OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE

While the Government have eased travel restrictions since the initial national lock down, we are still being vigilant and proactive with combating the spread of the virus. We want you to know that we are doing our very best to provide a safe and secure holiday cottage for our guests and staff, and have taken every step possible to minimise risks.

Visit England's 'Good To Go'

We're delighted to be awarded with Visit England's "We're Good To Go" industry accreditation. This verifies that our beautiful cottage meets the Government and Public Health Guidance on COVID-19.

What is COVID-19 and how can I contract it?

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that cause illnesses such as the common cold, to more severe conditions such as pneumonia, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory syndrome (SARS). The COVID-19 strain of coronavirus is new and not previously known.

The main symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • respiratory symptoms (like those you have with a cold)
  • fever (high temperature)
  • cough
  • shortness of breath
  • breathing difficulties

image411

COVID-19 spreads when an infected person coughs small droplets - packed with the virus - into the air. These can be breathed in, or cause an infection if you touch a surface they have landed on then your eyes, nose or mouth. People will be most infectious when they have symptoms, but there have been suggestions some can spread the virus even before they are sick.

Our Advice To You

Should you or any of your guests have a high temperature and/or a new continuous cough please do not visit our properties and look to contact your travel insurance/ speak to us to discuss a re-booking at a later date. By isolating yourself at this point, you will stop the spreading of the virus to others.

On a more general note, if you feel your symptoms are getting worse at home or you cannot cope with them and / or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days of isolation, please call 111 to discuss your options further.

How You Can Help Yourself and Others

  • wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds
  • always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze
  • put used tissues down the toilet and immediately wash your hands afterwards
  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

General FAQs About COVID-19 and Your Stay:

If you wish to book a holiday with us and your arrival date is pre-April 2021

Please note we are taking bookings and providing discounts for reduced guests in the property, as per the current government’s advice and ‘rule of six’. We are only accepting bookings for groups of six, one household or one social bubble up to the end of March 2021. We will require you to sign a form confirming you fit this criteria for our records.

See the extra measures we have implemented at the properties to ensure the safety of our staff and guests in the paragraph labelled ‘our preventative measures in place’.

Should I still come to the Property when I have recently come back from travels abroad?

The current travel advice from Public Health England is to stay inside and stay away from other people (self-isolate) if you’ve travelled to the UK from a number of countries across the world, even if you don't have symptoms. Please follow the link to see more: https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response

If you have booked through Cottages.com

If you wish to re-schedule your booking with us

Cottages.com are offering our customers the chance to reschedule your booking to a later date, free from administration fees for those who are staying at the property and affected by government rules such as ‘the rule of six’. For those staying outside of Cottages.com’s timeline for rescheduling, the normal Booking Terms will apply (the document received when you first made your booking). Please click on the following link for further information on how to reschedule your booking: https://www.cottages.com/covid-19

If you are wishing to reschedule to specific dates and you’re waiting in a long queue with Cottages.com, please let Sophie (Property Manager) know and she can look to provisionally hold these dates for you until you can reach a Cottages.com operator.

If you have booked directly with us

If you wish to re-schedule your booking with us via our website, HomeAway or TripAdvisor

We are offering our customers the chance to reschedule their booking to a later date up until the end of 2021, free from administration fees for those who are staying within a period affected by the government rules. For those staying after this date, the normal Terms & Conditions will apply.

Please contact us via email with your dates of original stay and your new requested dates and we will do our best to be as flexible as possible. Please note prices for the holiday may sway depending on what weekend/week you pick (should you decide a date in peak season for example).

If you wish to cancel your booking with us

a) Because a new government rule affects your stay (e.g. the ‘rule of six’ or a local lockdown)

If you wish to cancel due to a new implemented government rule, such as the ‘rule of six or you are affected by a local lockdown, and your stay is within the next two months, please note we will provide a full refund.

We will work within two months of the current date to process refunds. Anything beyond, please be patient and we will be in contact.

b) If you simply wish to cancel even though your group fits the rules outlined by the government

If you wish to cancel our standard Booking Terms apply. Please refer to the Booking Terms you received upon booking.

What if we experience a second national lock down in the UK and it affects my booking?

We are happy to reschedule your booking to a later date so to not lose your money or we will look to refund, where stays are within the two months ahead of the current date.

What happens if you or a member of your group start to show symptoms of the virus at our property?

If the member of your group is showing symptoms prior to your stay, we ask that they remain at home and follow government advice. If said person is within your household, the rest of your household will need to remain at home and isolate

If the member of your group is within a different household, you are still welcome to the property

If any of the above happens, please inform us as early as possible. We will look to reschedule your stay to a later date

If you show symptoms during your stay, please inform us immediately and leave to return home. You will be reimbursed for any days lost due to leaving.

We will then proceed to Fog the property, this machine will sanitise the air and all surfaces after your departure, ensuring our housekeeping team can thereafter enter the premises to deep clean the cottage

OUR PREVENTATIVE MEASURES IN PLACE

No members of our team have any symptoms at all, however, we are implementing as many measures as possible to put yourselves at ease as well as protecting our own staff

  • Owners, Manager and the Housekeeping team have undergone a training course that details the prevention of catching and spreading the virus.

  • We are bleaching all hard surfaces including light switches, door handles etc, with a substance that will contain a high percentage of alcohol in. While we do use anti-bacterial normally, we have decided to pay more for an effective anti-viral solution that will last longer.

  • All members of our team will be wearing disposable aprons(mainly to avoid bleaching our clothes), face masks and disposable medical gloves.

  • We will be providing our housekeeping team extra time to thoroughly clean all surfaces and to ventilate the property. As such check-in time will now be from 5pm and check-out time will be from 9.30am.

  • We will continue to provide guests details prior to their stay to access our key safe box independently, to reduce any face to face contact with staff.

  • We will be removing half of our board-games, books and DVDs from the property. Between each set of guests, we will be swapping these board-games, books and DVDs and sanitizing them. This will apply to our maps and leaflets on attractions.

  • We will continue to wash all linen and towels at a high temperature (60 degrees) with a bleach-based product

  • If you have ordered a hot tub with us directly, we will continue to ensure the chemical levels are balanced prior to your stay. We will be leaving instructions on how to sanitise the water after each use at the property and between each set of guests, we will be completely draining, cleaning and re-filling the hot tub.

  • We are providing extra cleaning fluids in the kitchen so you can also look to keep hard surfaces clean throughout your stay

  • Prior to stays, we will be providing our guests with a safety information document detailing ways in which they can be safe around Derbyshire and how they can help minimise any spread at the property also

  • We are delighted to inform you that we are part of Cottages.com’s ‘Safer Stays’ and Visit England’s ‘Good To Go’ schemes. This means we have satisfied all the Government’s and public health guidance on being COVID-19 compliant and implemented the correct health & safety procedures to ensure our guests have a safe and enjoyable stay

  • We are affiliated with many amazing food services, so you don’t need to panic so much about food supplies for your stay, pick your meals in advance and get them delivered to the cottages's door! Please ask the Property Manager for a full list of affiliated eateries.
